About me

After graduating from Loughborough University I went onto work with Fujitsu on their IT graduate trainee programme. It was varied work and I eventually found my niche whilst on a client project building intranets for HM Courts and DEFRA. Being exposed to web development I went onto work for BG Technology, creating design proposals and the websites for their front facing site and intranet.

I was then hired by Righteous Solutions to develop corporate Intranets for British Gas along with some overseas client-side consultancy. This gave me exposure to the full life cycle from agency concepts through to completion. After doing a brief stint at the NHS, I tried my hand at the charity sector and redeveloped the Muslim Hands website, integrated metrics, SEO, email marketing, social media and site optimisation.

After some more agency work in London and the arrival of my daughter I decided to settle down at Next PLC where I took on a role as web developer in the constantly evolving retail sector. Currently, you will find me freelancing and taking on new projects.

Most recently, I have studied to become a Google Mobile Sites certified professional. I’m qualified to help you create and optimise your mobile website to the latest defined standards. Certificate copy

This is me!

Through my experience in many sectors, I am able to offer wireframing, POC and build services from concept through to completion using an array of tools to develop single page solutions through to fully fledged eCommerce sites.

Mobile First

All website designs are responsive as standard. This means that your end users will have the ability to share the same experience whether it be on mobile, tablet or desktop, without the need to develop for separate platforms.

WordPress Development

In some of the projects, clients require the ability to control the content of their website via a CMS. To do this, I integrate front-end templates into WordPress themes, offer bespoke design tailoring along with customised functionality.

Using organic Search Engine Optimisation methods I am able to place your business in front of the intended target audience. Time is taken to research and plan keywords and phrases alongside looking at the competition we're dealing with.

Site Performance

Site speed/optimisation has become an important factor when it comes to search engine ranking. With each project I am determined to get the best experience for your users on both desktop and mobile platforms.

Online Marketing

Whether it's email marketing or pay-per-click advertising (PPC), once we've established what you want to achieve, I can put to work a strategy to help fulfil your objectives within an agreed budget along with corresponding metrics.

My work

I have worked on dozens of projects so I have picked some of my work below.

Chelsea Shirt Promo

Chelsea/Adidas new shirt Promo...

Adidas and Chelsea Football club collaboration to promote their new shirt. A big marketing campaign was prepared to show the supporters some love by asking them to participate in the world biggest team photo called 'A Blue Day Out'.

Once all the content was consolidated, I was tasked with doing the frontend presentation layer development along with the cross browser testing and live publish. Whilst contracting at de-construct, I attained early insight into using Google Analytics along with SEO integration. I also designed the email newsletter which was to be used to promote the event and generate interest from the Chelsea FC supporters.

Banner Design

Roll Up Banner Design for Sentinel Partners

Sentinel approached me to rustle up some designs for two roll up banners to be displayed at their upcoming event. As is with these cases it needed to be turned around fast and I was happy to help. A quick but concise requirements gathering process gave me enough to get started.

The next day I was able to provide them with the 1st draft which they were very happy with. Working closely with the client we were able to get the design over the the printer after a couple more iterations.

As they were going to be at an event I suggested it be worthwhile to have a QR code added onto the design which would link attendees through to the clients website which had more detail about the clients offering.

Photography website

Clean website for a local photographer

This static HTML photography website was built with the clients budget in mind and is a clean and simple design reflecting their needs at the time of development

A core set of functionality allowed the client to get up and running quickly and due to it lightweight design loads very quickly. Despite the site being lightweight it still is responsive which gives the clients customers a mobile experience and helps show off her past work whilst out on visits

Creative Agency

Digital Agency Website in Dubai

This particular project was for a client based in Dubai who wanted a professional website for a creative digital marketing agency focussing on clients within the Gulf region.

Utilising only 'White Hat' SEO techniques to get organic search engine ranking on the big three search sites (Google, Yahoo & Bing) was very clearly relayed to the client. SEO isn't just a matter of adding keywords to a page and wishing it good luck! Search engine algorithms now take into account lots of different variables from site performance to user experience and these have been factored into this project.

Iterative site performace steps were implemnted to enhance both usability and speed. The clients site is based in Dubai and is graphic heavy which would conventionally slow down the site. However, a caching strategy along with requesting the host to move the site to a regional datacentre helped considerably with site performance and reflected well when viewing post implementation metrics.

Royal Doulton

Webite redesign for a major brand

This project was delivered whilst working at Righteous Solutions and involved multi layered approach from doing the layout design all the way through to developing, hosting and publishing the website.

After being tasked with liasing with the designers to come up with ideas on how we could best implement the designs, it was my responsibility to translate them into a working POC to present back to Royal Doulton. There was a lot of work required to translate the design briefs into a working example as there was a requirement for everything to be pixel perfect to match the brand identity.

Leaflet Design

Easter leaflet design

This Easter leaflet work was done Pro bono for a local playgroup who are a registered charity. Their previous attempts at making leaflets were done using MS Word, which had served its purpose. I was tasked with adding some creative flair and designing something which added some excitement a sense of fun and above all, be engaging.

The playgroup events co-ordinator advised that an invite was required to hand out to parents as this was a ticketed event and had to be in black and white to keep costs down. The main leaflet promoting the Egg Hunt was created with children in mind. By using a cuddly rabbit clutching the eggs this helped in encapsulating the event. A Label was designed to showcase the event timings and detailing the activities which were going to take place.

HR Website

Niche HR recruitment website

Referrals are always great to receive from others but when you get a referral from an existing client it makes it all worthwhile. The team at Openbook Resources had seen my work and were keen to get the ball rolling. It always helps when you have an enthusiastic client.

The team at Open Book Resources wanted something that would reflect well with their client base. As they are a HR organisation focussing on a niche area they didn't really have any photography that they could utilise. Stock photography was used to help bring to light the clients goal of a clean look with great imagery that helped tell their story.

A filtered case study section was created to compartmentalise the case studies into sections. Once selected the user is taken to see more detail.

Real Estate Website

Website redesign for UKIPS property services

The client wanted a site design that enshrined the type of business they were in and spoke out to their high value clients. A clean and uncluttered single page design with emphasis on high quality stock photography was created to help achieve their aims.

As they are in the industry of providing property services the end design helped in reaching out to clients in the Middle east and has helped attract further clients to their business.

Logo Design

Car Dealership Logo design

A delearship in Pakistan approached me to do their logo via a mutual friend. After doing the initial requirements gathering I set about designing something that would stand out and be recognisable from the ordinary text based logos that are prevalent within the locality.

The client was very happy with the design and will be utilising the logo on their dealership and stationery.
